balex is a web design and development expert with more than 14 years of experience working on some of the web’s leading brands – Nike, Golfsmith, Magellan – and creating full capacity websites, and micro-site experiences for prestigious organizations including the American Diabetes Association, the LIVESTRONG Foundation and the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission. balex effectively applies creativity, organization, time management, troubleshooting and problem-solving to produce results.
balex’s professional career began at the Waco Tribune-Herald as a photographer and writer, which rapidly evolved into a career in advertising and online marketing. From Waco, he moved to Austin – the digital mecca – where he worked on projects for Texas Guaranteed Student Loan and various local companies before landing, what he calls, “a job with real meaning” at the LIVESTRONG Foundation. While at the Foundation, balex created online grassroots campaign sites for Proposition 15, the landmark legislation that led to the creation of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas; SmokeFreeTexas.org and painstakingly launched a redesigned LIVESTRONG.org.
From Austin, balex followed love to Pittsburgh where he has immersed himself in western PA culture and lifestyle. While working for two leading advertising agencies in the area, he decided to start his own boutique development firm with a focus on start-ups and non-profits. From custom microsites to complete website overhauls, balex uses his diverse expertise to enhance the user experience at every opportunity. An early adopter of social media, an avid Reddit contributor, eight-year SXSW attendee and researcher of all things digital innovation, balex is constantly searching for ways to further brand identity and maintain relevancy in a web world that is constantly changing.
balex and his wife Jenny are avid foodies who enjoy traveling the globe. But no matter how far he roams, his heart and stomach will always belong to Texas BBQ.
